Original post for any who missed it:

OK all, this idea popped into my head a week or so ago and has not gone away, so... As we all know, or should know, the Grateful Dead were very much into the "group mind", probably the most important member of the band if you get right down to it. Many of us probaby participated in this at various shows unbeknownst to each other at one time or another...

What i would like to run by you, my fellow Forumites and kindred spirits is that we give it another try, digitally this time. We agree on a show (I've asked dr flashback to help on that) a day and time, get as many as possible on the same wavelength at the same time, and see if anything happens! I know it's a little problematic, with us scattered over many timezones and continents, but. Winter Solstice would be cool, but I have to work on thursdays. New Years, fun, but the timezone problem, we do want to listen at the same time as much as we can. Maybe the saturday (12/23) before Christmas? I know many of you have brains that still work very well, figure a start time that would work best for all, put on the earphones, crank the speakers, all of the above and see if we can move a molehill?

Anyone interested?

I'm surprised to see that '82 has gotten no votes.. until now!!!

A great first set featuring Loser, Big R Blues, Stranger,Dupree's and MSN .

Set 2 also rocks with a real nice early style Throwing Stones>Franklin's (back when Stones had a chaotic jam in the middle as opposed to the Samson & Delilah-esque jam that it later morphed into.) The LS>Saint>He's Gone>Drums>Truckin>Stella>GDTRFB>JGB is 82 Dead at their best.

And The topper!!! Etta James, Tower Of Power join the boys for Hard To Handle and Tell Mama.

Is 12.30.82 an option? I thought we were voting on 69, 79, 85.

Peace, happiness and well being to you too, my newfound brother... Have a very Merry Christmas, you and yours! We're just having a low key Christmas here, no kids and not much $, but I do have a fine feast & some nice wines, etc. planned...

I'm just chillin today, been busy at work... Finishing burning your stuff is the big project for the day. Do you like any of the Dead stuff? I do have the official munckmix of the 12/31/03 show. It was good, I was there...

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well :)

Nice low key Christmas with feast and nice wine sounds mighty fine to me!!! Other than my kids, i want no hoopla - low key sounds awesome - tranquil, yet joyous with the season's spirit. you are lucky big bro.

oh - i didn't answer one of your questions - oops, got interrupted mid-reply. Yes, i did enjoy The Dead shows i attended during those few tours. I would be very interested in that show if the number of discs allow - if not, i can wait, but that sounds very very good to me :)

And please - no rush at all by big brother! Dont let burning those shows for me interrupt any holiday stuff at all. Please!!!

Anytime after the holidays works FINE for me!!! Enjoy the spirit of the season without any pressure of getting those discs out. You are doing me the favor. Receiving those after the holidays will be a great way to start 2007 so enjoy the "Now" and relax in the Christmas/New Year Spirit (and have a glass of wine - or four - for me). Peace my older Bro :)

Only have 3 blanks left... 12/31/03 it is then! You should have it in time for NYE. Now it just wouldn't be Christmas without at least one trip to the post office would it?

oh man - friday morning at the PO??? not sure about that, again - dont try too hard on my account - i know youve been working on it. maybe next week might be a little quieter - not sure - whatever works best for you - but either way - no rushing on the burning - relax, drink, smoke, and enjoy these next few days - my stuff should be on the back burner for atleast the next 5 days or so.

I agree, we had narrowed it down to the three and should stick with them. They are all good choices. I did listen to 69 all the way through and it is just fierce primal GD!!! The cuts are a bummer, but I've heard much worse and the raw power of the rest more than makes up for any flaws...

12/30/1982 is a good one... I'm for sticking with the original choices though, but we are a Grateful democracy here and I suppose write-ins are acceptable...

Please use the email account I set up for this, it'll make easier for me to keep track of the voting...

Yeah, stick to the originals. But just for the record, I would have been all over that 82! Love the early 80s and that, boys, means the 1980s!

79 is fine too, so I'll stick with that.

Yes, I'm in too. I am glad this will be on 12/30, because many will have non-head plans for NYE.

I am open to any of the shows mentioned...

Can't wait!

Is voting still open? I'll participate either way.

Why not have the group listen on NYE? Perhaps earlier in the day since not everyone will be at a party that will be willing to put on a whole shows worth of music. Or perhaps on Jan 1st to ring in the new year.

Great idea!

Voting is still open through this saturday.

I thought about new years but with all tha time differences it would be too weird. The idea is we all listen at the same time as much as possible... Besides I have to work NYE and New Years Day.
